Gunungkidul- Tuesday & Wednesday, 25th & 26th July 2017, Rifka Annisa becomes the facilitator and also the workshop facilitator for discussion related to UU Desa No. 6 of 2014. The activity that took place at Hotel Cikaraya Gunungkidul was attended by 20 participants that representatives from Jetis Village, Kepek Village, and Ngalang Village. This activity aims to get participants to strengthen village mapping in a participatory and village data-building techniques, as the basis of village planning.
The first day sessions began with the exposure of regulations derived from the Village Law by Farhad from the Gunungkidul District Protection, Women and Children Office. In this case, Farhad describes some regulations as derivatives of the Village Law, such as Government Regulation No. 43 of 2014 which was changed to Government Regulation Number 47 of 2015, then Government Regulation Number 60 of 2014 changed into Government Regulation Number 22 Year 2015 and Government Regulation Number 8 Year 2016 Related to the Village Fund. Related to the many rules of this derivation, Farhad still emphasizes the five principal substance of Village Law, namely recognition and subsidiaritas, village democratization, social capital and creativity of the village, village finance, and people's economy.
Unlike the first day, three speakers on the second day stressed the importance of the Village Information System for participatory village planning, especially regarding the importance of marginalized needs such as women, children and disability groups. This topic was delivered by Muhammad from the Indonesian Society for Social Transformation (INSIST), Agus Hermanto community acting from Beji Village, and Dina Mariana from Institute for Research and Empowerment (IRE). Furthermore, at the end of the session, Director of Rifka Annisa, Suharti, conveyed the related story of Rifka Annisa's experience in running various activities program which is expected to help increase the participation of women in village government level.
Two days of discussing the village law, the participants were enthusiastic, especially when the material sessions were related to the implementation of information systems and gender equality in the lowest level of government. An interesting discussion among participants and facilitators has colored this activity, although there are still some differences regarding the conceptual understanding of gender equality with its implementation in relation to the Village Law which often occurs in the field.

On 2-4 March 2017, Rifka Annisa Women Crisis Center held a workshop on school-based system for prevention and response to violence against women and children in Pesonna Hotel, Yogyakarta. The participants of this workshop are 15 school principals from several high schools in the district of Gunung Kidul, among others SMK Sanjaya Gunungkidul, SMK Pembangunan Karangmojo, SMK N Saptosari, SMK N 2 Purwosari, SMK N 3 Purwosari, SMK N 2 Gedangsari, SMK N 1 Wonosari, SMK N 1 Nglipar, SMK N 1 Ngawen, SMK N 1 Girisubo, SMK N 1 Gedangsari, SMK Muhammadiyah Semin, SMK Muhammadiyah Karangmojo and SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Wonosari. This three-day activity aims to understand the cause of violence against women and children, adolescent psychological dynamics and psychological character of women/children victims of violence in order to obatin a common understanding between schools related to prevention and response to violence in schools. This workshop was held based on cases evaluation handled by Rifka Annisa, where each year an average of 300 cases occured mostly in Yogyakarta. Type of cases handled by Rifka Annisa including violence against wives (domestic violence), rape, sexual harassment, violence in dating, violence within family and trafficking. In 2016, in the district of Gunung Kidul there were 29 cases, 10 of them were sexual violence. Based on available data, the ones who are more vulnerable experiencing sexual violence are shcool-age children. Rifka Annisa consider the importance of school-based system for prevention and response to violence. It also in accordance with the regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 82 In 2015, on the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Schools. Under this conditions, each of elements in schools needs to be strengthened. All components in schools such as students, teachers, staffs and principals have their respective roles in controlling school activities in order to avoid violence and sexual assault.
The school principal has an important role in policy making on prevention and response to violence. Therefore, it is expected that workshop on ”School-based system for prevention and response to violence against women and children“ could raise awareness, initiatives and efforts of each school to establish prevention of violence against women and children in school. In the last session of the workshop, the school principals highly appreciated the workshop held by Rifka Annisa. Dra. Siti Fadilah, M.Pd, the school principal of SMK Negeri Saptosari expressed her satisfaction with the material presented in the workshop. She was also amazed by the facilitators who are young, but can convey the material well. Another appreciation also addressed by H.Ruslan S.Pd,MM,Pd from SMK Pariwisata Purwosari, who expected that Rifka Annisa would sustain the coordination with school principals in this workshop.
In the last session of the workshop, the participants learned about counseling and mentoring, followed by discussion of follow-up plan and workshop evaluation. Some principals were questioned about the sustainability of prevention and response program to violence and sexual abuse in their schools. One of the principals, Drs. H. Rachmad Basuki, S.H, M.T from SMK N 2 Wonosari said he will soon set a date to conduct coordination with the teachers. It shows that this workshop was very effective in raising awareness of the prinicipals about the importance of prevention and response to violence and sexual abuse in schools. After attending this workshop, one of the principals, Sr. M. Eligia Kristiani, AK. S.Pd from SMK Sanjaya Gunungkidul advised the young generation to use social media productively in order to avoid negative impacts.

Rifka Annisa WCC in cooperation with the Department of Education, Youth and Sports Gunungkidul to held a workshop entitled "School-Based System for the Prevention and Handling of Violence against Women and Children" from Thursday 25th until Saturday 27th August 2016. Participants consisted of 20 teachers from junior high (SMP) and vocational schools (SMK) in Gunungkidul, among others; SMK Negeri 1 Wonosari, SMK Negeri 1 Saptosari, SMK Negeri 1 Gedangsari, SMK Negeri I Ngawen, SMK Negeri 3 Wonosari, SMP Negeri 4 Wonosari, SMA Negeri 2 Wonosari and SMP Negeri 1 Semanu. Sessions that took place over the three days, aimed to understand the dynamics of adolescent psychology and character as well as understand the root causes of violence against women and children. Besides these activities the workshop also aimed to obtain a depiction of the experiences of each school regarding the prevention and response to cases of violence.
The workshop was held at the Platinum Hotel, Jl. Gowongan Kidul No. 57 Yogyakarta. Based on the results and evaluation of the mentoring activities with schools and also the research on sexual violence in Gunungkidul. Rifka Annisa takes seriously their school-based system for the prevention and response to violence and sexual assault. It is also in line with the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 82 In 2015, on the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Environmental Education Unit. So when discussing the education system, the strengthening of each element in the school is essential. The system is composed of the principal, teachers, and students. Among the teacher's role as educators, teachers, and counsellors, in accordance with Law no. 14 of 2005, there is great intensity for the teachers in their roles of interaction with the students. Thus, teachers have an important role in prevention and response to violence and must be trained accordingly to handle such cases.
At the beginning of the first day's session, Rifka Annisa invited Dra. Mutingatu Sholichah, M.Si, (lecturer of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta and Assistant Sexual violence counselling intervention of parents, teachers, and children) as a resource to share knowledge on adolescent psychology and the importance of the role of schools in the prevention and response to violence against women and children. The second day continued discussion on power relations and gender inequality. Indiah Wahyu Andari, one of the facilitators, explained, "The social construction in the community during this puts women in lower positions than men. Women attached to the roles of domestic and men to the role of the public. "Indiah also added that the root causes of violence against women and children is the existence of power relations, or relations are unbalanced (unequal) between each other and the construction of gender is biased. Among the things that affect the power relations is the level of education, social status, senior-junior, age, occupation, health status, economic status, majority-minority, and so forth.
In the evening session participants are invited to practice self-healing techniques for the treatment of victims of violence. Enthusiastic participants were very evident when they described their future dreams and what they hoped to do for their families and communities regarding such issues. The third day of talks were about counselling and mentoring, followed by a discussion of follow-up plans, then concluded with evaluation activities.
